If you are promoting any affiliate link, do you know about commission theft? It comes in different names, such as link hijacking and affiliate theft. Because of this you might be losing out on a lot of sales. One indication could be that you have a lot of website visitors but poor conversation rates. Thus, leading to no or low earnings.

So what is the low down of commission thef?

Some people for their own reasons, wish not to give you the commissions you deserve. They skip your affiliate link by taking out the extra code in the url.

Affiliate link example: www.my-daily-grind.com/11223254488.pid51id14

They will instead just type in: www.my-daily-grind.com

One reason why people will do this is to insert their own affiliate link for that program. Crediting their own accounts and not yours.

Another reason is because affiliate links can be an ugly mess of letters and numbers – which can be a very long url. A good link should have at most two items. Taking the examples above, you can surely understand how scary this looks. There are a couple of options for you to use:

  1. I have proved a free affilaiate link cloaker at: www.my-daily-grind.com/freelinkcloaker
  2. This is an excellent tool for a hassel free html code to insert onto your webpage. It will hide your link in the “View Source” option. Go ahead play with it.

  3. PHP Script

First open notepad program in WindowsThen type in this script: <?php header(”Location: http://XXXXXXXXXXX “);?>Replace the X’s with your affiliate linkSave your notepad file as a PHPUpload this PHP file into your hosting account. Some people perfer to place all their php redirect files into a folder. Others just place it all together in their root folder.

On a last note - redirecting links in some cases take longer to load. I had experiences where it took around 3 mins to take me to the page! Which can be very bad.

If possible use the free link cloaker I have provided at

www.my-daily-grind.com/freelinkcloaker

Hope you have a lot more commissions–
